Childsplay clay is a 5 or 10 week course on Saturdays between 10 and 12 am for children who enjoy working creatively with their hands and will benefit from the opportunity to develop their practical skills base and coordination as well as their eye for design and aesthetics.
Throughout the course young potters can learn basic ceramic techniques such as pinchpots, coiling, slab building, wedging, stains and glazing, modelling and also practise throwing on the wheel. Children will be encouraged to engage with all areas of design and making within pottery, and to draw on their own inspiration to create uniquely charming and expressive pieces. By the end of a 10 week course a dedicated student can expect to have created:
1 personally designed and decorated mug
1 figurine adorned box
1 picture frame or tile
up to 3 items of thrown pottery
and 1 piece which is completely up to them (within reason!)
Cost: £85 for 5 two hour sessions or £160 for 10 two hour sessions (plus a small cost for materials )
